painting outdoors on the North Shore of MA

M Y S T O R Y

Maryann Fenton Taggart was born in Salem, MA in 1983. Her father, an artist and product designer, introduced her to the world of art and design at a young age. At 16 she had the opportunity to study with the artist Gary Hoffmann, a member of the Boston Guild, at the Fenway Studios. She studied with him in high school and throughout college while she attended Massachusetts College of Art. In the summer of 2003, to further her training she went abroad and took lessons at Charles Cecil Studios, in Florence, Italy.

After graduating from Massachusetts College of Art, with a BFA in Product Design and minor in Painting, she went on to pursue her design career. She has extensive design experience in home goods, tableware, jewelry, and children’s toys from her work at several companies including Tiffany & Co, Hasbro Toys, and American Girl.

Her true passion was always to paint and capture the beauty and emotion of life in all forms. In 2019 she decided to focus on painting full time. Since then she has studied with David Curtis, another member of the Boston Guild, to further her skills in painting from life. Currently Maryann spends her summers creating landscapes from the stunning views of the Essex River and different scenes on the coast of Gloucester, MA. In the colder months, you can find her in her studio doing portraits, still life painting, and taking on commissions.
